Knowing about leadership is not the same as experiencing leadership. We can read books, watch videos, attend seminars, and learn the theory of leadership, but the threshold of leadership is crossed only and always in the moment.

The practice of leadership is ultimately a practice in developing the ability to hold tension, to sit with someone as they struggle, be with people when it feels really awkward, and lean into a profound lack of connection instead of escaping what’s in the space.
